Ayrshire Maternity Unit

At 10am on Wednesday 23 August 2006 the new state-of-the-art Ayrshire Maternity Unit at Crosshouse Hospital opened its doors to expectant mums. Shortly afterwards, at 1.30am on the 24th, the first baby was born there and weighed in at 8lb.

This is it, the place (hopefully) where my grandchild will be born. It’s about a thirty minute drive from where we live. I’ve had a trial run, I know where I’m going, I just hope I’m going soon. My daughter is so relaxed about the whole thing, why is that? I mean, she’s the one that’s having the baby. She thinks I need to ‘chill’.
