Nativity Negativity

I read an article on the BBC website that saddened me. It said that, “More than a quarter of adults in Britain do not know where Jesus was born…The poll found that 27% of people were unable to identify Bethlehem as his birthplace, rising to 36% of people aged between 18 and 24″. What was even more sad was a Sunday Telegraph survey which suggested that only one in five schools is planning a traditional nativity play. Some schools are even sending notes to parents telling them not to let their children bring in Christmas cards to their friends because some people don’t celebrate it and might feel left out. Don’t they realise that Jesus is what Christmas is all about. Forgive me for quoting Christian slogans but, “Jesus IS The Reason For The Season”. People say and even sing, “Happy Holiday” but we wouldn’t even have the holiday, happy or otherwise, if it wasn’t for Jesus. Before I go of on a rant (oops! too late) here is a picture of Gracie under the tree, the best present anyone could wish for, a daughter for Carrie and Alan and a granddaughter for me an Gillian. That’s what Christmas is all about, the gift of a child, JESUS. To quote another Christian slogan (before the dog lovers stole it) “Jesus is for life not just for Christmas”.
