On The Beach

Yesterday we did the beach bit, After a stroll along the prom we found our spot, put our towels down and then the kids got on with the serious business of building sand castles with the help of papa Hugh. Gillian’s dad Hugh is great with the kids, the ideal papa; I hope I can be as good a papa to Gracie as Hugh is to our kids.

The beaches along the Devon coast are lined with beach huts which are just like colourful garden huts, the owners of each hut rent the site from the local council for about £400 per year.

Every so often we would hear the toot toot of a steam train as one of the trains which runs up and down the coast on which used to be the Great Western Railway would go past. I think we may be going on one of the steam trains today.
