The Lion Sleeps – The Gracie Sleeps

I thought I would let you all see and hear the toy that Gracie is so fond of. I don’t think anyone ever played the game, they just played with the lion. It’s kind of like that game “mousetrap”, I mean, I nmust have built that trap thousands of times but I can’t recall ever playing the game. Anyway, back to the lion; that tune is forever planted in my head because when I was a boy me and my brothers and sisters would go to stay with my uncle Tommy and auntie Bea during the summer and he would get out his guitar and play “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” Isy and me would have to do the monotonous ‘Wimoweh Wimoweh’ part and he would do the high pitched bit. I don’t know whether it’s a good memory or not but I don’t like the song much. Many groups recorded the song but originally it was a Zulu hunting song and was recorded 70 years ago by Solomon Linda. Here’s the original for you.
